OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators (@Senators) general manager Pierre Dorion announced today the hiring of Rob Cookson as assistant coach.
Cookson, 55, joins head coach Guy Boucher, who was named to the position on May 8 and associate coach Marc Crawford who was appointed to his role the following day.
A native of Lacombe, Alta., Cookson was a member of Boucher’s staff at the 2015 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland and helped Team Canada win its 13th gold medal at the annual tournament that winter. He has spent the past four seasons as an assistant to Crawford with the Zurich Lions of Switzerland’s Swiss-A League where he contributed to the team’s success as league champions in both 2013-14 and 2015-16.
