OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the National Hockey League’s arbitrator has awarded forward Alex Chiasson a one-year contract with a value of $1.2 million.
Chiasson, 24, scored 11 goals and added 15 assists for 26 points, while recording 67 penalty minutes in 76 regular-season games last season. He also played in four of the Senators’ playoff matchups.
Chiasson was acquired by Ottawa in a July 1, 2014, trade along with Nick Paul, Alex Guptill and the Dallas Stars’ second-round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft (a pick the Senators later used in a trade to acquire the 36th overall pick, with which they selected forward Gabriel Gagne) in exchange for Jason Spezza and Ludwig Karlsson.
