Mark Stone still hoping for World Cup selection

RALEIGH, N.C. - Mark Stone would welcome the chance to play for his country at the World Cup in September.

While many counted out the Senators' winger after he was left out of the first 16 players named by Team Canada last week, St. Louis general manager Doug Armstrong, who is heading up the Canadian roster, told TSN 1200 Monday that Stone is still on the radar.

A strong finish to this disappointing season for the Senators might help.

“There’s still a few spots to be had. You always want to play for your country whenever you have the opportunity,” Stone said Tuesday.
