The Senators have signed goaltender Marcus Hogberg to an entry level contract for the 2017-18 season, and also to a professional tryout agreement with Bingo for the remainder of this one.
Hogberg posted a .932 save percentage with Linköping HC this season. It’s tough to say exactly how that translates to the NHL or AHL, but it was good enough for fourth overall in the league.
This is welcome news given the state of the Senators goaltending pipeline. The team seems to have soured on Chris Driedger and Matt O’Connor as prospects after a disappointing season for both of them, giving Hogberg a very good chance of riding out the season in Bingo as the starter and carrying that into Belleville next season.
