It was nothing for Eric O'Dell to drop by the Canadian Tire Centre for a news conference to announce his signing with the Senators on Wednesday.
By his own estimation, he lives a "10-minute walk and two-minute drive" away.
"I've been getting a lot of texts and calls from friends and family," said O'Dell, grinning. "So it's a good day for everyone today."
It'll be looked back on as a great day if O'Dell reaches the potential the Senators see in him. From his days in the Ottawa West system playing out of Barbara Ann Scott Arena, then on to the CJHL with the Ottawa Senators and Cumberland Grads before graduating to the OHL with the Sudbury Wolves, O'Dell was selected in the second round (39th overall) of the 2008 entry draft by the Anaheim Ducks.
