Lindberg nets winner as Sens rookies take first Battle of Ontario

LONDON, Ont. — The Senators will hold the bragging rights in the rookie Battle of Ontario.

Winger Tobias Lindberg scored his second of the game only 33 seconds into 3-on-3 OT to give the Senators a 5-4 victory over the arch-rival Toronto Maple Leafs Friday night at the Budweiser Gardens in the club’s opening game of the four-team rookie tournament.

With 36 seconds left and trailing 4-3, Max McCormick scored his second of the game on a redirect to tie it up while Matt Puempel also chipped in during regulation. William Nylander had two goals for the Leafs while Travis Dermott and Nikita Soshnikov also scored for Toronto.
