It’s a line that has rarely been crossed between the Senators and Maple Leafs.
Both sides in the Battle of Ontario decided it clearly doesn’t matter.
The decision by Senators GM Bryan Murray and Leafs counterpart Lou Lamoriello to pull off a massive nine-player deal on Tuesday not only signalled these are two teams going in different directions, but also shows Ottawa hasn’t given up hope of making the playoffs this spring.
They believe with former Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf on board that this team has made a big step in the right direction toward stabilizing a blue-line that has struggled all season.
