While Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson is being mentioned in the same breath as Bobby Orr and Paul Coffey these days, he insists he’s not getting lost in the comparisons.
In fact, Karlsson says he didn’t even hear the positive words that the Hall of Famer Coffey directed towards him and his style last week.
And when Karlsson was asked Wednesday if he knew who was the last defenceman to lead the NHL in assists in a full season — Karlsson currently has 52 helpers, four ahead of Chicago’s Patrick Kane, the overall scoring leader — he shook his head.
