Hoffman snipes OT winner as Senators defeat Ducks

OTTAWA — The wrapping wasn’t pretty, but the Senators will take their gift of two points.

And, that’s certainly better than a lump of coal.

Mike Hoffman scored the overtime winner on a one-timer on the power play to give the Senators a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks as Ottawa extended its winning streak to four straight games in front of 17,125 on Thursday night at the Canadian Tire Centre as the club went into the Christmas break on a high.

Hoffman’s blast came with 4:03 left in OT and it was his 10th of the season.
