OTTAWA - RALEIGH, N.C. — Mike Hoffman was on the ice for the optional skate Friday morning at the PNC Arena.
But he didn’t have the option to play Friday night.
The Senators winger missed his second straight game with a groin injury he suffered last Sunday against the Winnipeg Jets in a 3-2 loss at home and suddenly there’s no timetable for Hoffman’s return from the ailment.
While the Senators were confident he would be able to suit up Sunday against the Florida Panthers or Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning when the club wraps up this trip, coach Guy Boucher indicated that may not be the case.
