The Hamburglar isn’t ready for a Happy Meal in Binghamton just yet.
Andrew Hammond confirmed Thursday he has been approached by the Senators about going to the club’s AHL affiliate on a conditioning stint, but that won’t happen until he has a change of heart or is put on waivers to be sent down.
The Senators goaltender, who is currently No. 3 on the depth chart behind Craig Anderson and Mike Condon, hasn’t played since he suffered a groin injury on Oct. 28 against the Calgary Flames. However, he feels he’s better off to stay here, practise and then evaluate whether it’s worth it to make the trip to Binghamton.
