It was perfectly fitting.
The last shot ultimately did decide the Columbus Blue Jackets wild and wacky 7-6 win over the Ottawa Senators Sunday.
Cam Atkinson scored his second goal of the game on a breakaway 1:09 into overtime, ending a game full of sloppiness from start to finish.
Atkinson’s goal, his second of the game, was the direct result of Erik Karlsson’s missed shot that bounced off the back boards at the other end of the ice.
With that, the Senators three game winning streak is history. But at least they picked up a point on a night that goaltender Mike Condon would love to forget.
