Former Senators coach MacLean may land in Anaheim

The Anaheim Ducks may hire a former Senators coach to replace a former Ottawa assistant.

After sending former Senators assistant Brad Lauer packing at the end of the season, a source confirmed to the Ottawa Sun a report by TSN's Pierre Lebrun that the Ducks have received permission to speak with former Ottawa coach Paul MacLean for the vacant position.

Fired by the Senators with an 11-11-5 and replaced by Dave Cameron on Dec. 8, MacLean didn't get a sniff at any of the head coaching positions that were available. Sources say he had the opportunity to accept an interim position with the Leafs when Randy Carlyle was fired with the guarantee of an assistant's job at the end but didn't accept it.
