The Erie Otters may be losing the next Wayne Gretzky, but they could also be adding a man who once described himself as "the bald Wayne Gretzky" because he "assisted everybody."
Former Senators CEO and president Roy Mlakar is poised to run the Otters should they land in the hands of JAW Hockey Enterprises, which is owned by his good friend Jim Waters, the son of CHUM radio founder Alan Waters.
The Otters original/current owner, Sherry Bassin, has bankrupted the team and bidders have until June 24 to submit, with a closing date of July 10.
Waters is considered to be in the driver's seat to take over, which would be Bassin's preference.
