Only a couple hours after scoring twice in Team Canada’s 8-2 quarter-final win over Switzerland, news broke that Sens prospect Drake Batherson will be traded to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada following the World Junior Championships. Other details from the trade have yet to be revealed.
Batherson, a 19-year-old forward, was drafted by the Ottawa Senators 121st overall in the 2017 draft as an overager. He’s since been one of the highest risers in the draft, breaking out for 39 points in 24 games. He earned an invite to play for Team Canada at the World Juniors, where he currently leads the team with four goals in five games.
