He still has the stick. The puck, too.
Every now and then, Kirk Muller will look at those mementos and remember a time when he was on top of the hockey world in a country that embraces the sport like no other.
On June 9, 1993, Muller used that very stick to direct that very puck past Los Angeles Kings goalie Kelly Hrudey to give his Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 lead in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup final. And when the last siren eventually wailed at the fabled Montreal Forum, the Habs had posted a 4-1 victory to clinch their NHL-record 24th title.
