He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden on Dec. 11, 1972, didn't visit North America until 1995 and has lived in Detroit the last two years.
But now Daniel Alfredsson is "home", where he spent 17 hockey seasons establishing himself as the best player the Senators have ever had.
What drew him back to Canada's capital?
"The history we have with this city," said Alfredsson.
"I've been involved in charities for a lot of years. You create ties. Anytime you go away from Ottawa you come back and you always feel extremely welcome and it's a great feeling.
