Senators general manager Pierre Dorion announced today that Craig Anderson’s personal leave was because his wife Nicholle’s has been diagnosed with cancer.
Anderson had travelled to Florida to be with his family, but since they are in a waiting period and Andrew Hammond left the game in Calgary in the first period, Nicholle told her husband to phone Dorion.
The plan is that the family will drive to Ottawa together and Anderson will likely join the team in Edmonton, just in time to start Sunday against the Oilers.
Matt O’Connor and Chris Driedger will stay with the team and practice until Anderson arrives in Edmonton.
