OTTAWA - SUNRISE, Fla. — The first goaltender in National Hockey League history to have scored a goal and registered a shutout in the same game is about to have some company.
No, not that in that category.
But one of Damian Rhodes’ lesser claims to fame — owning the Ottawa Senators record for making 25 consecutive appearances — will be equalled Tuesday.
Mike Condon, the super-sub who has helped keep the Senators above water during Craig Anderson’s absence, will also hit the magic 25 mark against the Florida Panthers.
Condon will likely smash Rhodes’s mark Thursday when the Senators play Tampa and the number will likely continue to grow until Craig Anderson and the club’s coaching staff is satisfied he’s ready to return to game action.
