Chris Phillips is expected to officially announce his retirement Thursday, ending the career of the longest serving player in Senators history.
The Senators issued a press release late Wednesday, saying that a Thursday noon press conference had been scheduled where the defenceman “will provide an update on his future.”
Senators general manager Pierre Dorion, senior hockey adviser Bryan Murray and “special guests” will also be in attendance.
Phillips, 38, was drafted first overall by the Senators in 1996 and has scored 71 goals and 217 assists in 1,179 career games.
