Hockey fans and other visitors to the Canadian Tire Centre can expect to walk through metal detectors similar to those used at airports this fall.
Under the new security policy announced Tuesday, visitors will no longer be able to exit and re-enter the building with the same ticket unless it's an emergency. For example, smokers won't be able to leave the building for a quick puff and return to a game.
"We felt it was time to make this move to provide this enhanced level of security for our fans and we wanted to give as much lead time as possible for fans to learn about the new policies," Cyril Leeder, president of Senators Sports & Entertainment, said in a news release.
