Boucher’s benching of Ryan and Ceci should nip lateness issues in the bud

With some coaches, being on time means arriving at least 15 minutes early.

Guy Boucher isn’t that strict.

“It’s very simple,” the Senators new sheriff said Saturday. “You’re on time or you’re not on time.”

Bobby Ryan and Cody Ceci were four minutes late for a 12:30 p.m. team meeting before the game. It cost them 20 minutes of embarrassment. While collecting splinters for the first period of Saturday’s pre-season tilt against a collection of players wearing Montreal Canadiens’ jerseys, they were “good teammates”, cheering on their fellow Senators.

They know they messed up, and they owned it.
