FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. - The news didn't catch David Legwand by surprise.
He's been waiting to find out where he'd play next season. With one year left at $3 million, the Senators' centre was pleased to learn he'd been dealt to the Buffalo Sabres along with goalie Robin Lehner in a deal that brought Ottawa back the No. 21 pick in Friday night's NHL entry draft.
The Sabres are a team that is building with owner Terry Pegula, GM Tim Murray and the hiring of coach Dan Bylsma.
Legwand said with top pick Jack Eichel coming in it will be a pretty exciting place.
