Goalie Andrew Hammond will make his first NHL start in more than a month when the Senators take on the Eastern Conference-leading Washington Capitals Wednesday night at the Verizon Center.
Hammond, who was sidelined by a concussion Nov. 12, shook off some of the rust by playing two games for the Binghamton Senators in a conditioning stint last weekend.
Hammond has a 2-0-2 record this season and is 22-1-4 since becoming an NHL regular last February.
"It has been a while, but it doesn't necessarily feel that long," Hammond said of his layoff after practice at Canadian Tire Centre Tuesday.
