Alfie's return nothing but positive

The decision to bring Daniel Alfredsson home was a no-brainer.

But it didn't happen overnight and it only made sense when the Senators confirmed Thursday night in an announcement by owner Eugene Melnyk that the most iconic player in club history will join the Senators as a senior adviser to hockey operations and he'll begin working Friday at training camp.

The wheels were first set in motion to bring the former captain back into the organization the day he hung up his skates and ended his NHL career on Dec. 2, 2014 after putting on his jersey to take one last twirl with his former teammates in the warmup before a game against the New York Islanders.
