Zach Hyman has told the Florida Panthers that he won't sign with them.
Florida selected Hyman in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, but at this point he can simply wait to become an unrestricted free agent on August 16. This is unfortunate news for the Panthers as Hyman has developed into a great player at the college level. He had 22 goals and 54 points in 37 games with the University of Michigan. The Panthers can still trade his rights before he officially becomes an unrestricted free agent and that might actually happen as another team might feel the likely cost of late pick is worth the chance to make their pitch to Hyman first before he hits the open market.
