San Diego State steals home to edge UC Santa Barbara 4-3 (The Associated Press)

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) -- Steven Pallares stole home for the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, giving San Diego State a 4-3 victory over UC Santa Barbara in the Lake Elsinore Regional on Friday night.

Bubba Derby (8-4) struck out nine and allowed three runs and seven hits in a complete game for the Aztecs (41-21), outdueling Dillon Tate (8-5).

Pallares, a senior first baseman, had three hits, including a solo homer, walked once, stole three bases and scored three runs for San Diego State, which faces Virginia in a winners' bracket game Saturday. He singled to start the eighth, stole second, took third on a flyball and stole home on a 2-2 pitch.
