Sabres owner Terry Pegula says 2 losing seasons were successful for rebuilding process

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula says the last two losing seasons were big successes for the team.

Pegula said Thursday that the success didn't show up in wins and losses but will show up in the future.

Pegula made the comments during a panel discussion with his wife, Kim, as well as Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday.

When asked whether success is measured differently for his sports business than his corporate enterprises, Pegula offered the example of the Sabres' recent struggles, which were celebrated by fans who wanted the team to "tank" for the first overall pick.
