Sabres' Hodgson remains buyout candidate: report

Buffalo Sabres center Cody Hodgson remains a candidate for a contract buyout, Sabres general manager Tim Murray said Thursday, according to Buffalo radio station WGR-550.

Murray said Hodgson is in Sweden working with a skating coach, and said Hodgson had to improve his skating and conditioning. Murray said Hodgson would like to stay with the Sabres, but a buyout is a possibility. He has four years remaining on his contract, at an average annual value of $4.25 million, according to GeneralFanager.com.

Hodgson, 25, had six goals, 13 points and a minus-28 rating in 78 games last season, one season after he set career-bests with 24 goals and 44 points.
