CHARLOTTETOWN - The Quebec Remparts are the first team to advance to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinals after toppling the Charlottetown Islanders 5-2 on Wednesday.
Guillaume Gauthier scored three times as Quebec swept the best-of-seven quarter-final matchup 4-0.
Matt Murphy and Raphael Maheux also struck for the Remparts — who outscored Charlottetown 27-9 in the series — while Marc-Olivier Roy tacked on three assists.
Zachary Fucale made 27 saves for Quebec as Daryl MacCallum turned away 36-of-40 shots for Charlottetown.
The Remparts went 1 for 3 on the power play while the Islanders scored twice on four chances with the man advantage.
