Minor league game stopped to watch home stretch of Belmont Stakes

American Pharoah became the 12th horse to capture the Triple Crown and first since 1978 on Saturday. Perhaps not surprisingly, his attempt at history was a big deal in Louisville, where American Pharaoh won the Kentucky Derby last month.

Saturday’s game between the Louisville Bats and Buffalo Bisons stopped temporarily as the home stretch of the Belmont Stakes was shown on the video board at Louisville Slugger Field.

At the time, the Buffalo had a 5-0 lead. However, Louisville rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and added another in the fifth before eventually losing 11-6.
