BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive says he feels ''as good as I've felt in a very long time'' after cancer treatment and back surgery.
The retiring commissioner and his successor, Greg Sankey, spoke Monday at the Southeast Regional APSE meeting across the street from the league's headquarters.
Slive has remained mostly out of the limelight since announcing a recurrence of prostate cancer in October.
The commissioner reiterated, however, he's still the boss until the end of July and is becoming ''more and more feisty'' since finishing treatment. He says his doctor indicated he's done with chemotherapy treatments.
