Prospect Mike Reilly has informed the Columbus Blue Jackets that he intends to explore free agency, and will not sign with them during their exclusive 30-day window that closes in mid-June.
With that, Reilly is from leaving the University of Minnesota whom he has spent the last three seasons with as well. This is a potentially a big blow for the Blue Jackets as Reilly was a Hobey Baker finalist with 42 points in 39 games last season, however Reilly has noted that he is not completely writing off Columbus. He just wants to field more offers. Reilly was selected 98th overall in the 2011 Entry Draft, and he has just one point and 10 shots on goal during his nine games with Team USA at the World Hockey Championship.
