CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Drasen Johnson threw a three-hitter to help Illinois beat Notre Dame 3-0 on Sunday in the NCAA regional tournament.
Johnson (10-3) threw 106 pitches, and only allowed one base runner after the fifth inning, a single by Ryan Bull. Adam Walton, Reid Roper and Ryne Roper drove in runs for the Illini (49-8).
Ryan Smoyer (9-1) was the loser for the Irish (37-22).
Cavan Biggio and Bull each had two hits for Notre Dame. The Irish will face Wright State on Sunday night, with the winner advancing to play Illinois on Monday.
