The New Jersey Devils placed forward Dainius Zubrus on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract on Wednesday.
Zubrus was due to make $3.1 million in the final year of his contract, according to war-on-ice.com.
Zubrus, 37, spent the past eight seasons with the Devils. He has 225 goals and 584 points in 1,243 career games spanning 18 seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres and Devils.
