GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Arizona Coyotes have signed defenceman Philip Samuelsson and forward Brendan Shinnimin to one-year, two-way contracts, avoiding salary arbitration.
The Coyotes announced the moves Wednesday. They did not reveal financial terms.
The 23-year-old Samuelsson, the son of former NHL defenceman Ulf Samuelsson and older brother of Coyotes centre Henrik Samuelsson, appeared in four games for Arizona last season. The Coyotes acquired the defenceman from Pittsburgh in December for Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional draft pick.
Philip Samuelsson played 73 games last season in the American Hockey League, finishing with four assists in 22 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and adding five goals and 15 assists in 51 games for Portland.
