Canada to play for bronze at U18 tourney after dropping semifinal to Americans

ZUG, Switzerland - Canada will have to settle for an appearance in the bronze-medal game at the world under-18 hockey championship after dropping a 7-2 decision to the United States in semifinal play Saturday at the Bossard Arena.

The Americans opened the third period with a one-goal lead before Auston Matthews and Colin White scored 32 seconds apart to make it a 4-1 game.

Mitchell Stephens cut into the deficit but Jordan Greenway answered for the U.S. before White completed a natural hat trick to put the game out of reach.
