The Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk on a two-year extension Tuesday.
The contract runs through the end of the 2017-18 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, but ESPN Chicago reports it's for $750,000 in the first year and $900,000 the second year, an average annual value of $825,000.
Van Riemsdyk, 23, had one assist in 18 regular-season games with the Blackhawks last season and played four games in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, helping Chicago win its third championship in the past six seasons.
Signed as a free agent on March 24, 2014, van Riemsdyk had 75 points (16 goals, 59 assists) in three seasons at the University of New Hampshire.
