Aaron Hernandez, the former star tight end for the New England Patriots, was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the late-night shooting of a man in an industrial park near his home.
Hernandez, 25, was also convicted of gun charges in the June 2013 killing of the man, Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée and who was shot six times.
The verdict carries a sentence of life without parole. It came on the seventh day of deliberations in Fall River, Massachusetts, and completed a stunning fall for Hernandez, who had a $40 million contract with the Patriots.
