Orlando Magic point guard Shabazz Napier will play for Puerto Rico this summer at Olympic Qualifying Tournament and into the Olympics, should Puerto Rico qualify, Sportando reports.
Napier is expect to join Puerto Rico in its preparations for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament on June 2 for training camp. Puerto Rico will play in the Centrobasket tournament in June and then head to Serbia to play in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament against host Serbia, Latvia and Angola. Only the winner of this six-team tournament will advance to the Olympics in Rio.
Napier is eligible to play for Puerto Rico because of his parent’s nationality.
