ORLANDO – Ending domestic violence starts with education and prevention. Many victims of abuse are desperate for help, but often don’t know how to tell their story or admit there is a problem.
There is one local organization, however, that is making it much easier for domestic abuse victims to escape danger and improve their overall conditions. The Harbor House of Central Florida provides shelter for domestic violence survivors and also offers a 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, emotional support and legal advocacy for thousands of people each year.
Earlier this year, the Harbor House of Central Florida received a $100,000 grant from the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF-MFF).
