ORLANDO – The Zebra Coalition was established in response to the growing number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth who are experiencing homelessness, bullying, extreme physical and sexual abuse, isolation from their families and a wide range of life challenges or setbacks.
And since 2012, 9,000 LGBT youths have received resources and education through outreach programs provided by the Zebra Coalition. Also, another 310 youths have been provided housing, case management and counseling services since 2010.
Without the help of supporters such as the Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund (OMYF-MFF), the Zebra Coalition wouldn’t be able to foster hope, dignity and self-respect in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and all youth (LGBT+) to provide them an opportunity to grow up in a safe, healthy and supportive environment.
