Frank Vogel sat front and center in the big chair as the face of the Orlando Magic at the NBA Draft Lottery earlier this week.
Is it just coincidence that Vogel is the first coach in recent memory to represent the Magic at the lottery — or is it an indication the Magic are elevating their head coach in the franchise’s hierarchy and giving him more power and influence?
Let’s hope it’s the latter and Vogel is given more clout and control of basketball decisions than previous coaches have had. In fact, unless the Magic can attract Jerry West or Larry Bird, team CEO Alex Martins should consider making Vogel the president of basketball operations and hiring a general manager to work under him.
