LONDON — The Orlando Magic made a trade Tuesday with the Cleveland Cavaliers that will net the Magic some cash without losing anything of value.
The deal is a bit complicated.
Orlando received second-year guard Joe Harris and has decided to waive Harris.
The Magic received a 2017 second-round pick from the Cavaliers that was owed to the Cavaliers by the Sacramento Kings. The draft pick is protected; if it falls anywhere from 31st overall through 55th overall, the Kings will keep that pick. The only way the Magic would receive that pick is if the Kings finish the 2016-17 season with one of the NBA's five best records, and the chance of that occurring is very slim.
