A Hollywood screenwriter couldn't have concocted a better ending to Mario Hezonja's first NBA exhibition game Saturday.
With the closing seconds of overtime approaching, the Orlando Magic trailed the Los Angeles Clippers by two points. Teammate Aaron Gordon missed a baseline jumper, but free-agent teammate Nnanna Egwu collected the rebound and passed the ball to Elfrid Payton. Payton then passed to Devyn Marble, who, in turn, swung the ball left to Hezonja.
Hezonja caught it, squared his shoulders and let the ball fly.
When it sailed through the hoop, swishing the net, the rookie grinned and pumped his fist.
