Keith Appling spent last season in Erie, Pa., playing for the D-League's Erie BayHawks.
He'll have a chance to spend the 2015-16 season in Orlando, playing for the NBA's Orlando Magic.
The Magic will invite Appling to their training camp and give him a chance to make their regular-season roster as a backup to point guards Elfrid Payton and C.J. Watson.
The Magic and Appling have agreed to a two-year contract that includes a small partial guarantee, a league source said. If Appling doesn't make the Magic's regular-season roster, he'll play for the BayHawks again.
Appling, 23, played in the Orlando Pro Summer League for the Magic's "White" team, a squad composed of free agents.
