ORLANDO – Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook has been a one-man wrecking crew all season, compiling triple-doubles at a dizzying rate and spurring an otherwise pedestrian Thunder roster into solid playoff contention.
On Wednesday night, the irrepressible, unstoppable Westbrook took his game to an even higher stratosphere in a performance that just might have won him the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.
For a second straight year, the Orlando Magic were witnesses to Westbrook’s greatness – something that denied them of a potentially stirring victory. Westbrook scored 57 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, handed out 11 assists and hit a game-tying 30-foot 3-pointer late in regulation as Oklahoma City rallied to beat the Magic 114-106 in overtime.
