In an effort to add some interior depth, the Orlando Magic reached an agreement with free agent big man Jason Smith on Tuesday.
The deal will be for one season and, according to USA Today Sports, will be worth $4.5 million.
The move is a low-risk move for the Magic. Since the Magic will sign Smith to only a one-year contract, the team will preserve cap space for free agency next summer.
In almost 22 minutes per game last season for the New York Knicks, Smith averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He also played well against the Magic, scoring a season-high 25 points against Orlando on Feb.
