Orlando Magic guard Devin Cannady underwent surgery Monday morning to clean out his right ankle after sustaining what turned out to be a dislocation and severe sprain during Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers at Amway Center, the team announced.
Further evaluation revealed no fractures as Cannady’s bones and cartilage remained intact, according to the team. Cannady has been placed in a plaster splint and will be re-evaluated during his rehabilitation and is expected to make a full recovery.
Magic assistant coach Tyrone Corbin, who is handling the head coaching duties while Steve Clifford is in the league’s health and safety protocols, communicated with Cannady via text message on Monday afternoon.
