CHICAGO — University of Houston men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson is the latest person linked to the Orlando Magic’s vacant head coaching job.
Sampson worked as a Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach under Scott Skiles when Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman was Milwaukee’s assistant general manager and Magic GM John Hammond was the Bucks’ GM.
The Magic’s potential interest in Sampson was first reported by a SiriusXM NBA Radio host.
When asked by the Orlando Sentinel if the Magic have interviewed Sampson, Weltman declined to comment. But Weltman also didn’t comment on previous occasions when he was asked about other potential candidates.
